(COLDWATER) – A Coldwater area education center was placed on lockdown for a time Tuesday morning.
Coldwater Police along with the Branch County Sheriff's Department and Michigan State Police were all called to the Branch Area Career Center. Authorities were told there was a man near the building who appeared to be suicidal and was armed with a gun.
Officers saw the man and saw he indeed had a weapon. They set up a perimeter around the facility and shut down area streets.
The man was taken into custody around 11 AM at his home. His father was credited with helping officers. The lockdown was dismissed.
The man was transported to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital to be examined.
