(UNDATED) – That warm air coming our way has made for a change in our forecast over the next few days.
The National Weather Service has now issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the listening area from 2 PM Thursday until 8 PM Saturday. Temperatures will reach into the low 90's today and the mid 90's on Friday and Saturday. Heat index values could reach between 105 and 110 degrees all three days.
Weather service officials and health providers say heat illnesses are possible for individuals spending prolonged periods outside or in non air-conditioned locations. Spending too much time in this type of heat is specifically dangerous for young children, the elderly and those with health problems.
In addition, temperatures inside vehicles can reach lethal levels in just a few minutes.
Remember to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room and to stay out of the sun. Also check on elderly neighbors and relatives and please bring your animals inside so they are not affected by the heat.
