(LAGRANGE) - LaGrange County officials cut the ribbon on the new $3.8 million Justice Building Friday afternoon.
The building will house the Probation Departments on the first floor and the Prosecutor’s Offices on the second floor.
County Commission President Larry Miller says this is a day that was long awaited. He says the building come out looking like the original drawings the architect came up with. Miller says both the inside and the outside look very good. He says there are still a few items that need to be finished, and people should start moving in next week.
County Prosecutor Greg Kenner says the new building is great. He says after spending years with 15 people crowded into a small office, it will be good to have windows to look out of. He says their new offices will be a better and healthier environment for everyone.
The Probation Department will also see the daylight...moving from the basement of the courthouse.
The northeast corner of the first floor is unfinished, leaving the county with room to grow according to Miller.
The county’s Information Technology Department, which had planned to occupy part of the new building, is now moving to the basement of the county office building.
Workers hope to begin moving into their new homes next week.
