Constantine Approves Changes In Council Terms
Wednesday, October 23, 2019

(CONSTANTINE) – The Constantine Village Council approved changes to their terms of office.

During Monday's meeting the Council held a public hearing on proposed changes to when they would hold elections and how many seats would be voted on.

Constantine Village Manager Mary Honeysett explains how the new terms would work, starting with the November 2020 election. LINKC.

In the November 2022 election, the three 2 year Council seats would be up for four year terms.

Under the present system, all Village Council seats are two year terms and are all up for election every two years. By switching to the staggered terms, Honeysett says it would add continuity to the Village Council, plus there would only be the potential of three new members every two years.

The Village Council approved the change by a unanimous vote.
