Nominations Being Accepted For Oster Award

(STURGIS) – Sturgis Public Schools are currently accepting nominations for the 2019-2020 John E. Oster Award.

The award is given annually to a Sturgis Public Schools teacher for outstanding teaching and community service.

Residents of the Sturgis School District interested in nominating a teacher can do so by submitting a nomination letter. Nomination forms are also available at the Superintendent's Office. You can also find a form on the Sturgis Schools website. LINKA.

Forms and letters must be submitted to Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert, at Sturgis Central Commons, 107 West West Street, Sturgis. The deadline for nominations is December 1, 2019.

The award is in honor of the late John E. Oster, a Sturgis attorney who placed high value on both education and community service. This will be the 39th award, which has been given annually since the 1981-82 school year.

Some of the previous winners include Murlyn Myers, Willodean Beckwith, Harley Pierce, Jean Cassault, Arne Switalski, Diane Oxender, Dianne Gorsuch, Julie Ellis, Mary Haylett, Emerson Green, Patty Davidson and Tracie Pueschel.
