(CENTREVILLE) – Glen Oaks Community College may try to bring another millage request in 2020.
During Thursday's meeting, the Glen Oaks Board of Trustees voted to let St. Joseph County officials know by December 3 if they will have a millage request for the March 2020 primary ballot.
Glen Oaks presented a millage increase of .50 mills for seven years in 2018. It was defeated with 10,107 NO votes and 9,383 YES votes. If approved the money would have been used for safety and security improvements, energy efficiency upgrades, renovation of technology laboratories, classrooms and other student spaces, and other capital improvements.
The Millage, if approved, would have brought in approximately $969,360 per year for the college.
Glen Oaks President Dr. David Devier says the Board will discuss the matter before presenting the request to the County Clerk.
