ANGOLA - Two employees at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID- 19). According to a news release from Cameron Hospital, one of the employees resides in Steuben County and one resides in DeKalb County.
Hospital officials said in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and the employee’s status, "the individuals are currently observing in-home isolation". Due to privacy concerns, Cameron did not provide any other information on the individuals.
Cameron has been actively screening providers and staff who present symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath who meet the CDC criteria for evaluation of COVID-19 infection. Per CDC guidance and Cameron protocols, individuals known to be at risk for a COVID-19 infection are immediately isolated to prevent potential spread to others.
Both Steuben and DeKalb County Health Departments are working closely on these cases to identify and monitor any close contacts of the patients who might have been exposed to ensure that appropriate precautions are taken in accordance with the latest CDC guidance.
Cameron will continue strict visitation guidelines in an effort to protect patients and staff from the COVID-19 outbreak
