New Cases Of COVID-19 In Southern Michigan Over The Weekend

(UNDATED) – There were more new cases of COVID-19 reported in Southern Michigan over the holiday weekend.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says there were 6 new cases of coronavirus from Friday to Monday in St. Joseph County. That makes 102 people who have the coronavirus and 2 people who have died.

Branch County has 4 new cases of COVID-19. They now have 103 residents with the virus and 2 people who have died from it. In Hillsdale County, 2 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported. There are now 170 residents while the virus, and there have been 24 people who have died.

The Michigan Department of Corrections says there are no new cases of the coronavirus at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater. 793 inmates and 34 staff members have tested positive for the virus, and there have been 22 inmate deaths.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says 4 new cases have been detected in Cass County, bringing their total number of residents infected with coronavirus to 77. There have been 2 deaths in the county.

There were 968 new cases of COVID-19 around Michigan. That makes 54,881 people who have contracted the virus. 82 more deaths are being reported in the State, which means to date, 5,240 people have died from the coronavirus.

As of May 22, there have been 33,168 Michigan residents who have recovered from COVID-19.
