(LANSING) – A Sturgis man as been appointed to a State commission.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that Monte Bordner has been selected to sit on the Michigan Beef Industry Commission. Bordner is the owner of Bordner Angus Farms, and is a board member of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau and the Michigan Cattleman’s Association.
Bordner is appointed to represent members engaged in the raising, breeding or growing of cattle or calves for beef production. Bordner's term started July 10 and will expires on May 31, 2023.
Also appointed to the Michigan Beef Industry Commission are David Clark of Clifford and Bret Schapman of Almont.
The Michigan Beef Industry Commission was created under Public Act 291 in 1972 to promote the sale of beef and beef products. The Commission, along with the Beef Promotion and Research Board and the National Cattleman’s Beef Association, work together in a coordinated state and national effort to promote beef and veal products, in order to hold market share and increase the demand for beef and veal.
These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate.
