(ANN ARBOR) – Michigan football just landed one of the nation's fastest wide receiver recruits. Four star receiver Xavier Worthy committed to the Wolverines' 2021 class in a ceremony broadcast on Instagram Live, becoming the latest prospect to pick U-M during the NCAA-mandated recruiting dead period. Worthy, who attends Fresno (Calif.) Central East High School, is ranked No. 175 overall, the No. 32 receiver and the No. 16 prospect in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. As a sophomore, he ran a 10.55-second 100-meter dash and 21.41 seconds in the 200-meter event. He also ran a laser-timed 4.46-second 40-yard dash roughly one week ago, according to Central East coach Kyle Biggs. Worthy's list of finalists included Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Oregon. He was one of the fastest-rising prospects in the country this offseason; at the end of March, he was ranked a three-star recruit and the No. 511 overall prospect. As a junior, Worthy helped lead Central East to a 15-0 record and its first state title in school history, recording 54 catches for 992 yards and 16 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he had 10 catches for 259 yards and three touchdowns. He is the third receiver to commit to Michigan's 2021 class, joining three-star prospect Markus Allen and four-star Christian Dixon. The Wolverines now have 20 commitments, 18 of which have occurred since the dead period began in mid-March.
