(WOLCOTTVILLE) – A LaGrange County toddler is dead after being struck and run over by a truck.
Lt. Don Faust with the LaGrange County Sheriff's Office says at 11:30 AM Monday, 28 year old Michael Norris of Montpelier, Ohio arrived at a farm in the 3500 block of South County Road 500 East in Wolcottville to deliver some calves.
Norris told investigators that he spoke with the victim's father and then got into his truck to back the trailer up to the barn where the calves would go. Norris says he checked his rear view mirrors and started to back, but struck something. He got out to check and found he had hit and backed over the 15 month old.
Faust says the toddler got out of the house without his parents seeing him.
Samaritan Helicopter flew the toddler to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne where he died from his injuries.
Faust says that no charges will be filed in the incident.
Assisting at the scene by the Johnson Township Fire Department, Parkview LaGrange EMA and Indiana Conservation Officers.
