(PARK TOWNSHIP) – A one vehicle crash claimed the life of a 60 year old Portage man.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says his deputies were called to investigate a crash of a delivery vehicle in the 52,000 block of Parkville Road in Park Township at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon.
The vehicle had been heading north on Parkville Road and went off the west side of the road. It then struck a guidewire for a power pole and a pile of scrap metal before coming to rest in a field.
It's believed the driver suffered a possible medical issue which led to the crash.
Deputies attempted life saving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Assisting deputies were the Fabius-Park Fire Department and the Three Rivers Fire Department.
