(LAGRANGE TOWNSHIP) – Three people were injured in a three vehicle accident Saturday evening in Cass County's LaGrange Township.
Sheriff's Department officials says 58 year old Katrina Schrimsher of Elkhart was on Dailey Road just before 8 PM and stopped her vehicle partially in the roadway because of a mechanical issue. Another driver, 31 year old Alejandro Valasco of Elkhart, stopped his vehicle in front of the Schrimsher vehicle to help her.
A south bound auto driven by 19 year old Jacob Butters of Bronson, struck the rear of Schrimsher's vehicle, which was pushed into Valasco's vehicle. Valasco was struck by his own automobile and was not injured.
Butter's passenger, 19 year old Tyler Martin of Three Rivers, suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Mishawaka. Schrimsher and her passenger, 77 year old Earline Fitzgerald of Dowagiac had minor injuries and were taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
Assisting at the scene were the Dowagiac, Wayne Township and Cassopolis Fire Departments the Pokagon Tribal and Dowagiac Police Departments along with Life Care and Pride Care Ambulance.
