(THREE RIVERS) – It wasn't a traditional groundbreaking ceremony for the St. Joseph County Commission On Aging.
Monday afternoon, COA officials along with representatives from the City of Three Rivers and St. Joseph County held a wall breaking at the former Three Rivers Inn. The facility will be the new COA Enrichment Center and Residence. It will be renovated to include senior apartments, a senior center, the COA offices and the home for the Meals On Wheels Program.
COA Executive Director Tim Stoll shared with the crowd it's been a long time getting to this point. LINKC.
Stoll says they appreciate the support from the COA Board, the County Commission and the seniors in St. Joseph County.
The former hotel has been vacant for 12 years.
County Commissioners Allen Balog says this is a much needed addition to St. Joseph County. LINKD.
The current plan is to have the new facility up and operating by late July or early August of 2019.
