(LANSING) – Last Thursday was an emotional day for Michigan State Senator John Proos.
The two term office holder said good-bye to his friends and colleagues during an emotional farewell speech.
The St. Joseph Republican thanked the many people who helped him during his eight years in office serving the 21st Michigan Senate District, along with the six years prior to that he spent in the Michigan House Of Representatives. He included not only his staff but also his family who were on the Senate floor and in the gallery.
Proos thanked his wife and his mother for their support and love. He also spoke to his children, saying he hoped they knew how much he loved them and how proud he was of them.
In his closing remarks, Proos says he prays that he strived each day to care for the whole person and to seek the will and the good of the other. He says this active and intentional effort has been his single objective
while working in the Senate and for the citizens of the District.
Proos says he prays that the Legislature will continue to serve in the future, remembering the importance of caring for the whole person and at the heart of this noble endeavor, remains love.
