(COLDWATER) – A familiar face has been named to finish out the term of former Branch County Prosecutor Ralph Kimble.
In a media release Branch County Circuit Court Judge Bill O'Grady announced that Chief Assistant Prosecutor Valerie White has been appointed to fill out Kimble's term as Prosecutor. That will be until 2020.
O'Grady says that White joined the Prosecutor's Office in 2013. He goes on to say that White has the legal aptitude, administrative insight, professional demeanor and compassion for victims to lead the office.
Kimble stepped down as Prosecutor on January 1, 2019 after coming to an agreement with the State Of Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission. Kimble plead no contest on two counts that were filed in an amended complaint. The Commission says Kimble admitted “to the factual and the allegations of professional misconduct” set forth in six other counts.
The complaint had eight allegations of misconduct against Kimble. Seven of them refer to sexual statements that he allegedly made to female employees in the Branch County Courthouse over a two year time frame.
In addition to stepping down as Branch County Prosecutor, Kimble also is suspended from practicing law for six months.
