Tuesday, February 12, 2019

(COLDWATER) – A police pursuit ended Sunday morning when the vehicle crashed and the driver got away.

Coldwater Director Of Public Safety Mark Bartell says his officers saw a vehicle early Sunday morning on West Chicago Road at the Admiral Gas Station. The officer followed the vehicle and noticed an improper license plate, and tried to get the driver to stop.

The driver went south on Willowbrook Road and police pursued the suspect, with speeds going over 110 MPH. The chase went out of the city and onto Dorrance Road and then Centennial Road before coming back into Coldwater. The suspect then traveled south out of the city and crashed the car into a tree in a field off of Fenn Road and near Fiske Road.

Police identified the driver as a Three Rivers man. The suspect fled the crash site on foot, and officers were not able to locate him.

Bartell says they are seeking warrants against the man, who was driving on a suspended license, and who is also wanted on out of state charges.
