(CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP) – Michigan State Police are investigating a hit and run accident in Branch County's California Township.
Troopers from the Coldwater Detachment say at 10 PM Wednesday, a black passenger car was traveling north on Hamman Road near State Line Road. The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a southbound horse drawn carriage head on. Inside the carriage was two adults and six children ranging in age from one month to 7 years old.
The car did not stop and continued driving north. The vehicle is believed to have sustained front end damage, a missing side mirror and damage to the front driver side tire.
