(VANDALIA) – No charges will be sought against a teen in a Friday shooting in Vandalia.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says their investigation determined that 37 year old James Hodges Jr. was shot in the abdomen by his 15 year old son. Investigators determined the teen shot his father in self defense and in self defense of another.
Deputies were called to a residence in the 62,000 block of Cass Avenue Friday at 10 PM to investigate a shooting. Officers found Hodges had been shot in the abdomen. First aid was immediately given and Hodges was taken by Life Care Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
The juvenile's name will not be released because of his age.
Behnke says reports will be forwarded to the Cass County Prosecutor's Office for review. The matter is still under investigation.
