Glick Placed on Probation for Mishandling Cases
Saturday Jul 15, 2017 12:26pm
Indianapolis, IN

By: Tim Murray

The Indiana Supreme Court placed Sue Glick of Lagrange on disciplinary probation for two years in an order dated Thursday.

The court and Glick agreed that the longtime local attorney and state senator failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness; failed to keep a client reasonably informed about the status of a matter; failed to comply promptly with a client’s reasonable request for information; and failed to expedite litigation consistent with the interests of a client.

According to the document, Glick was hired to serve as attorney for an estate in February of 2009 but failed to keep the co-executors reasonably informed about the status of the case for the next seven years. Glick failed to file the estate’s income tax and inheritance tax returns in a timely manner.

A further review of Glick’s caseload found she filed 21 separate estate cases in LaGrange Circuit Court between 1991 and 2014, and none of the cases were closed by last October. Since then, Glick has closed 14 of those cases.

None of the personal representatives or beneficiaries in those cases complained about Glick’s handling of them.

As mitigating facts they noted Glick’s lack of prior discipline, her cooperation, her remorse and recent progress in closing the majority of old cases.

Glick must close the remaining seven estate cases by the end of her probation or serve a thirty day suspension without automatic reinstatement.
