Colon beats Morrice 27-8, advances to State Finals
(COLON) – There will be a new 8 Man Division 1 football champion in 2019. Saturday afternoon No. 2 ranked Colon beat visiting, No. 5 ranked and defending champion Morrice 27-8 in a semi-final game. The Magi raced out to a 21-0 lead before Morrice would score their only touchdown late in the second quarter. Phillip Alva had 16 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown. He was also 3 for 10 for 78 yards, two touchdowns and 2 interceptions. LINKC. Jonathan West had 7 carries for 108 yards and a score along with a 48 yard TD reception. Justin Miller led the defense with 12 tackles while Caiden Carver had 10 tackles. Colon improves to 12-0 and will face Suttons Bay in the 8 Man Division 1 State Finals on Saturday in Marquette. Morrice ends the season at 10-2.
