(ANN ARBOR) – The Michigan football program has added some depth at quarterback in the Class of 2021. Hartland (Wisc.) Arrowhead quarterback Max Bredeson, the brother of former Michigan offensive lineman Ben Bredeson, announced Wednesday that he has accepted a preferred walk-on offer from the Wolverines. Max is not ranked by recruiting services but was named the Classic 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Year this season. He completed 56 of 109 passes for 822 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions in six games. He also rushed for 711 yards and nine scores on 93 attempts. Max will follow in both of his brothers’ footsteps by attending Michigan. Ben started 46 career games along the offensive line over four seasons before getting drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round in April. Jack Bredeson was a pitcher on the Wolverines’ baseball team from 2016-19. He had a 4.73 ERA in 26 2/3 innings, striking out 21 and walking 20. The Wolverines also have a verbal commitment from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who is Jim Harbaugh’s highest-ranked signal-caller recruit during his Michigan tenure.
