Saturday, April 17, 2021

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Marc Davidson had an idea he might be coaching a potential Indy Star Mr. Basketball when he arrived as boys basketball coach at Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian. That was in 2013 and Caleb Furst was going into the fifth grade. On Friday, Furst was named the 2021 Indiana Mr. Basketball award winner. The 6 foot 10 inch Furst, and Purdue recruit, is a two time State Champion with Blackhawk in 2018-19 in Class A, and in 2021 in Class 2A. He is also the schools' all-time leader in points and rebounds and the Trester Mental Attitude award winner for Class 2A. Furst was the catalyst for Blackhawk Christian’s dominant 2020-21 season, averaging 21.4 points, 14.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 blocked shots per game. Finishing second in the voting was Trey Kaufman-Renn of Silver Creek; and Luke Brown of Blackford.
