Michigan women edge Ohio State 62-58
(ANN ARBOR) – Freshman Naz Hillmon scored with seven seconds remaining and senior Nicole Munger hit a pair of free throws with 1.5 seconds left to complete a 7-0 run over the final 1:06 and give the University of Michigan women's basketball team a 62-58 win over Ohio State. U-M came up with a huge defensive stop on OSU as senior Hallie Thome blocked Makayla Waterman's jumper in the lane to give U-M back the ball with 42 ticks left. Thome missed a short jumper in the lane on offense, but Hillmon was right there to clean it up, making good on the putback to give Michigan a 60-58 advantage with seven seconds remaining. The Buckeyes missed their final attempt and fouled Munger with 1.5 seconds to go, sending Munger to the free throw line where she made both to provide the final margin. Hillmon led the way for Michigan with 20 points and eight rebounds, with Munger going for 18 points and taking three charges. Sophomore Hailey Brown scored eight points to go with five rebounds. Michigan improves to 12-7 overall and 3-4 in the Big Ten. U-M will be back on the road Thursday (Jan. 24), traveling to Indiana to take on the Hoosiers at 6 p.m. The game can be seen live on Big Ten Network.
