Wednesday, January 29, 2020

(DOWAGIAC) – Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a Cass County murder and robbery investigation.

Dowagiac Police officials say officers were called at 1:40 Monday morning to the 700 block of Louise Avenue near East Prairie Ronde Street to investigate reports of a shooting. When they arrived at the house, officers found a 40 year old Dowagiac man dead.

Police say two suspects broke into the house to rob the residents. However, one of the suspects shot and killed the victim. They also tied up three other people in the house and searched the residence for items they could steal.

The suspects left the house and the three individuals were able to free themselves and call the police.

Police were able to identify two suspects: a 38 year old White Pigeon man and a 41 year old Kalamazoo man. They learned the White Pigeon man used to live at the Dowagiac residence.

Police tracked down the White Pigeon man north of Three Rivers and took him into custody.

Dowagiac Police, with assistance from the Kalamazoo Township Police and the Kalamazoo Metro SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at a home in Kalamazoo and arrested the second suspect.

Both men will be arraigned in Cass County District Court.
