Three Rivers Police Arrest Suspect In Death Investigation
Tuesday, June 25, 2019

(THREE RIVERS) – An arrest has been made in a Three Rivers death investigation.

Three Rivers Police Chief Tom Bringman says on June 20, his department arrested 33 year old Randall Miller on a charge of open murder. The arrest happened after several months of investigation into the March 25 death of Lori Newman at her home on Fifth Street.

Three Rivers Police were called to Norman's house by a neighbor about a unresponsive person. Officers arrived and gave aid to Norman but she died a short time later.

As part of their investigation, officers interviewed several people, including Miller and his children. One of the kids told officers they saw Miller choking Norman and slamming her. They eventually went to their next door neighbor who called police.

An autopsy was performed and officers were told it was possible Norman died from strangulation.

Due to the information gathered as part of the investigation, Miller was arrested and is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail. He will have a pre-trial conference on July 2 and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 9.
