(LAGRANGE) – Two positions have gone unfilled in recent months in LaGrange County government.

They are the Code Enforcement Officer and the County Highway Engineer.

The lack of a code enforcement officer prompted the County Commissioners on Monday to delay a status conference on the Neely Nuisance case in Elmira. They tabled further action for three months.

The position falls under the Sheriff's budget, and Sheriff Jeff Campos says he is having trouble finding a candidate for the job. He says the County should consider paying more for part-time positions, such as $20 an hour or even $22 an hour.

The County Highway Engineer's position was vacated suddenly earlier this year by Sara Farlow.

The Commission agreed to hire a recruitment agency to try and fill the position.
