(UNDATED) – A mass of warmer than normal air will be affecting the listening area for the next few days.
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for the listening area from 2 PM Thursday until 8 PM Saturday. Temperatures will reach into the mid 90's on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Heat index values, especially on Friday and Saturday could reach between 105 and 110 degrees.
Weather service officials and health providers say heat illnesses are possible for individuals spending prolonged periods outside or in non air-conditioned locations. Spending too much time in this type of heat is specifically dangerous for young children, the elderly and those with health problems.
Remember to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room and to stay out of the sun. Also check on elderly neighbors and relatives and please bring your animals inside so they are not affected by the heat.
