County Commission Lifts Hiring Freeze For Three Positions
Thursday, August 8, 2019

(CENTREVILLE) – The St. Joseph County Commission lifted their hiring freeze to allow for three positions to be filled in different departments.

During their meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Commissioners were presented with three requests for hiring people. The Sheriff's Department was asking to hire a corrections officer; the Juvenile Day Treatment Program is looking to hire a Supervisor and 3B District Court is seeking to hire a Deputy Clerk for the criminal division.

A few years ago, the County Commission enacted the hiring freeze to help cut some of their costs. However, the Commission did allow for departments to come to them to ask for additional positions to be filled on an “as needed” basis. County Administrator Teresa Doehring says each one of these requests fits that criteria.
