(SPRING ARBOR TOWNSHIP) – A three vehicle crash claimed the life of two Coldwater residents, and injured three other people.
According to MLive, the crash happened just after 4 PM Thursday at the intersection of King and Sandstone Roads in Jackson County's Spring Arbor Township.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says a 2008 Saturn was on Sandstone Road and entered the intersection, hitting a Cadillac that was on King Road. The rear end of the Cadillac swung into the other lane, where it was struck by a Ford Explorer.
Deputies say two passengers in the back seat of the Cadillac were ejected. 84 year old Harold Ashdown and 81 year old Marilyn Ashdown, both of Coldwater, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A front seat passenger in the Cadillac, a 54 year old Coldwater woman, was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health with possible life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Cadillac, a 53 year old Coldwater man, suffered serious injuries and was also taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health.
A 47 year old Clark Lake woman was driving the Ford Explorer, and was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health with non life-threatening injuries.
A 24 year old Litchfield woman was driving the Saturn, and was not injured.
Assisting at the scene were the Spring Arbor Township Fire Department and Jackson Community Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation.
