(GIRARD TOWNSHIP) – A man was struck and killed on I-69 Monday in Branch County's Girard Township.

Michigan State Police say a 67 year old Riverview, Michigan man was stopped along the shoulder of the southbound lanes of I-69 near the Jonesville Road exit at 3:05 PM. The driver was having a maintenance issue with his vehicle. Troopers say the man was outside of his vehicle
when a passing automobile struck him.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Branch County Sheriff's Department, Coldwater Police Department, Coldwater Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance all assisted at the scene. Also assisting was the State Police 5th District Accident Reconstructionist.

The investigation is ongoing.
