(COLDWATER) – A police chase in Branch County ended with the arrest of a 31 year old Coldwater man.
Coldwater Acting Director of Public Safety Joe Scheid says the Coldwater Police Department was notified at 3:10 Sunday afternoon of a vehicle driving fast in the 400 block of West Chicago Road. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped away, heading west on U.S. 12. Officers say speeds reached between 75 and 80 MPH.
Other officers put down stop sticks, but the driver missed them. The chase entered the east side of Bronson, with the suspect going down some side streets before getting back on U.S. 12. The suspect was finally stopped near the Bronson Dollar General Store.
The driver was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding and having no operator’s license. His name was not released pending his arraignment in Branch County District Court.
