(JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP) – A missing elderly man was located with the help of Cass County K-9 Officer Nellie.
Sheriff Richard Behnke says his deputies were called to the 26,000 block of M-60 in Jefferson Township at 8:45 PM Thursday because of a missing 70 year old man. Michael Cox of Cassopolis had walked away from his home and had not returned. His caretaker was concerned due to his medical issues and approaching storms.
Mr. Cox had been missing since 6 PM and his friends and Sheriff's Deputies were unsuccessful in the search for him in the wooded area around the home.
Deputy Graves and K-9 Officer Nellie were called to the scene and at 10:50 PM they located Cox in a swamp behind his residence. He was medically cleared by Life Care Ambulance personnel and was taken home.
