August Unemployment Rates Down In Michigan

(LANSING) – Michigan's unemployment rate went down during the month of August.

Data released by the Department Of Technology, Management And Budget, shows the State's seasonally adjusted jobless rate for August was 4.2 percent, down by one-tenth of a percent from July. Total employment rose by 4,000 over the month while the number of unemployed was little changed.

According to Jason Palmer, Director Of The Bureau Of Labor Market Information And Strategic Initiatives, Michigan's August unemployment was three-tenths of a percent above the August 2018 rate of 3.9 percent. It was also five-tenths of a percentage point above the current national rate of 3.7 percent.
