(EDWARDSBURG) – Several animals were found at an Edwardsburg home.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says on October 8, his department along with the Cass County Animal Control served a search warrant at a house in the 24,000 block of May Street in Edwardsburg on suspicion of animal cruelty.
During further investigation, officers located numerous animals in varying states of health living in deplorable conditions. Over 100 animals were seized from the residence, including dogs, horses, a miniature pony, turkeys, goats, chickens, geese, ducks and a cat.
The suspect's name is being withheld at this time pending arrest and arraignment. Assisting deputies was the Edwardsburg Police Department.
