September Jobless Rates Down Around NE Indiana

(INDIANAPOLIS) - LaGrange and Steuben Counties had the lowest jobless rates in the region as unemployment dropped again in September.

LaGrange County fell from 2.7 to 2.2%, which is one tenth of a percent lower than one year ago. The local workforce contracted by an estimated 468 persons since August with both the numbers of persons working and not working going down.

Steuben County saw their jobless rate fall from 2.6 to 2.2%. Noble County saw a decline from 3 to 2.6% while Elkhart County went from 3 to 2.7%. DeKalb County went from 2.7 to 2.4%

All five counties were below Indiana’s seasonally adjusted rate of 3.2% for September.
