(BRONSON) – Bronson Community Schools may have found their next Superintendent.
Tuesday night, the Board of Education held second round interviews with three candidates. The finalists were Suzanne Kavanaugh, the K-12 Principal of the Pontiac School District; Jessica Bucklin, the School Improvements, Curriculum and Behavior Consultant with the Jackson County ISD; and Steve Wilson, the Superintendent of Constantine Public Schools.
Following the interviews, the School Board discussed with Mark Dobias of the Michigan Association Of School Boards about what they liked from the candidates and also some concerns. Board President Jan Byler shared with the audience, made up mostly of Bronson School teachers and staff, that this is not an easy process. Byler says they want to hire the best candidate and have everyone work together for the betterment of Bronson Schools.
After several minutes of discussion, the Board narrowed their candidate selection down to Bucklin and Wilson. By a 6-1 vote, the Board chose to offer the Superintendent position to Wilson, based on a site visit to Constantine.
Byler says they will try to schedule that site visit for next week if possible.
