(FLORENCE TOWNSHIP) – A one vehicle crash claimed the life of a woman.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Brad Balk says his deputies were sent to investigate a one vehicle accident in Florence Township.
Investigators say Richard Sanford of Three Rivers was driving east on Banker Street Road at 2:30 PM Saturday when he lost control of his Ford Explorer near Klinger Lake Road. The vehicle went off the road to the left, striking several trees before overturning. Both Sanford and his female passenger were trapped in the vehicle and had to be removed by the Tri-Township Fire Department.
The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Sanford was taken to an area hospital by Life Care Ambulance with severe injuries.
