Dometic Closing LaGrange Plant
Thursday, January 23, 2020

(LAGRANGE) - Employees at Dometic in LaGrange were told Wednesday they are losing their jobs when the company closes the plant in the next 60 days.

They learned the news during a plant-wide meeting Wednesday afternoon. It shocked many of the employees who said they had no idea of what was coming.

Some felt their jobs were being moved to Mexico. One employee told us that dies and other tools have been shipping to Mexico for awhile now.

Dometic is one of LaGrange’s largest employers with 197 workers affected. It ranks in the top ten of property tax payers in the Lakeland School Corporation district, and paid $80,419 in real estate and personal property taxes last year.

We reached out to the company headquarters in Elkhart this morning, and were told we would receive a call back.

The company filed a WARN notice with the Department of Workforce Development on Wednesday, listing a plant closure date of March 21st.
