(UNION TOWNSHIP) – It was an early start to the day Wednesday for the Union City Fire Department.
Department officials say they were called to 101 East Hayner Road at 4:15 AM for a fire in a detached garage. Firefighters arrived on scene and saw heavy flames coming from the structure. Homeowners said there were propane tanks stored inside the dwelling.
Union City firefighters called for backup. The Coldwater and Burlington Fire Departments responded and helped battle blaze, which was eventually put out.
A cause of the fire is still being investigated.
