(CENTREVILLE) – An arrest warrant for St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough was issued on Monday for an alleged violation of his bond condition.
St. Joseph County District Court officials say that a motion was filed by the Michigan Attorney General's Office, asking the court to find McDonough in violation of a pre-trial bond condition. McDonough turned himself in Monday and was issued a $500 road side bond and then released.
Details of how McDonough allegedly violated his bond have not been released.
The Michigan Attorney General's Office has charged McDonough with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and possession of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, following an incident May 11 in Lockport Township. McDonough was involved in a one vehicle crash, as his automobile left the road and crashed into a fence.
During a July pre-trial hearing, a $500 personal recognizance bond was issued. As part of that bond condition, McDonough was not allowed to purchase, consume or possess intoxicants or controlled substances. He is also not allowed to visit a retailer whose primary business is selling alcohol.
McDonough is scheduled to be arraigned on the bond violation September 17. His trial on the drunken driving arrest will start in late November.
