(FAWN RIVER TOWNSHIP) – One person is dead following a two vehicle crash that happened east of Sturgis.
Michigan State Police were called to U.S. 12 near Carls Road just after 1 PM Tuesday. During their investigation, they determined that a 43 year old Sturgis man was driving his Jeep west on U.S. 12. A Ford F-150 pick up, driven by a 39 year old Sturgis man, was heading east and crossed the center line, striking the Jeep head on.
The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Jeep, a 42 year old Sturgis woman, was taken to Sturgis Hospital to be treated for non life threatening injuries, along with the driver of the pick up.
Assisting at the scene were the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department, the Tri-Township Fire Department, Life Care Ambulance, Three Rivers Ambulance and the State Police Fifth District Accident Reconstructionist.
The incident is still under investigation.
