(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana will stay in Stage 5 of its reopening plan for at least another month.
Governor Eric Holcomb announced during his weekly coronavirus briefing on Wednesday that Stage 5 would be extended through at least November 14. In addition, the State's mask mandate will also be extended.
Holcomb decided to continue both the mask mandate and the Stage 5 designation after seeing an increase in the positivity rate of COVID-19 cases in the Hoosier State.
State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box joined the briefing remotely to share that she, her daughter and grandson have all tested positive for the coronavirus. Box says she's not experiencing symptoms, while her daughter and grandson are experiencing mild symptoms. Box worked with contact tracers to notify anyone she was in contact with of the diagnosis.
As a precaution, and per protocol, top state officials have been, or will be tested. Holcomb announced that he was tested for COVID-19 and it came back as negative. Box is quarantining for 14 days.
