(EAST LANSING) – A limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend the final rounds of the Michigan high school football and girls volleyball tournaments.
The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced Wednesday afternoon that some spectators would be allowed at these two sports, after receiving approval from the Michigan Department of Health and Human
Services.
Football teams will receive 125 tickets, to be divided among game participants for purchase by immediate family members via the GoFan digital ticketing platform. Volleyball teams will receive 50 tickets, also to be purchased by immediate family via GoFan.
Spectators in different households must be spaced out by six feet and maintain distancing at all other times, including arrival and departure from the game facility. Spectators must also wear face masks at all times.
Football playoffs resume Saturday with 11 player Regional finals and 8 player semifinals. Volleyball restarts Tuesday January 12 with the quarterfinals.
Lower Peninsula Girls Swimming & Diving Finals will conclude that sport's season January 15 and January 16. However, spectators will not be allowed at these events.
The MHSAA also announced Wednesday the location and times for the Football Finals. The 8 player finals would be on Saturday, January 16 at Legacy Center in Brighton. The Division 1 Game would be at 2 PM and the Division 2 game 40 minutes following the first game.
The 11 player finals would be January 22 and 23 at Ford Field in Detroit. On January 22, the Division 8, Division 2, Division 6 and Division 4 Finals would be played. Then on January 23, the Division 7, Division 1, Division 5 and Division 3 finals would take place.
