(ALBION) – Host Central Noble pulled away in the fourth quarter as they beat Lakeland 57-42 in opening round action of the boys NECC Tournament. Lakeland had the deficit down to four points with five minutes left but couldn't get over the hump. Brayden Bontrager had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers. Teammate Mason Douglas added 13 points. Connor Essegian led the Cougars and all scorers with 19 points to go along with 9 rebounds. Sawyer Yoder and Logan Gard each had 13 points in the win. Lakeland is now 3-4 on the season. Central Noble is 10-1 and will take on Churubusco in a second round game at Prairie Heights.
