(CENTREVILLE) – A plan has been approved for a local health organization to help out with COVID-19 vaccines if needed.
During Tuesday's meeting the St. Joseph County Commission approved a plan for Covered Bridge Health Care to act as a back up for the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency in getting people vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccines.
Commission Chairman Dennis Allen explains how the plan would work. LINKC.
Covered Bridge Health Care says the cost of doing a clinic like this would be $600 per day.
The St. Joseph County United Way would help out with the pop up clinic in getting the word out to the public and setting up lunch for the volunteers. United Way Executive Director Kelly Hostetler says she is also working on getting community donations to help with the clinics if they are needed.
Allen emphasized this is a back up plan in case the CHA gets backlogged and can't do more clinics.
Allen along with other County Commissioners and members of St. Joseph County government will meet Thursday with State Representative Steve Carra and State Senator Kim LaSata to talk about making sure St. Joseph County is getting the amount of COVID-19 vaccines they are supposed to be getting when they are ordered.
