(POKAGON TOWNSHIP) – One person was injured in a three vehicle crash in Cass County's Pokagon Township.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says at 5:21 PM Wednesday, 22 year old Nicholas Baker of Dowagiac was driving east on Pokagon Highway. Baker failed to stop in a clear distance, striking the side of a second vehicle, driven by 38 year old Rebekah Jones of Dowagiac. She was stopped, waiting for another vehicle to turn north onto Wilbur Hill Road.
Baker then struck the rear of still another vehicle, driven by 25 year old Lashell Phipps of Cassopolis. Phipps' vehicle was launched across the lanes, went off the road and came to rest in some trees. Phipps was taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Everyone was wearing a seat belt and the airbags did not activate.
Assisting at the scene were the Central Cass Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance.
