Suspect Arrested After Two State Pursuit

(UNDATED) – A police pursuit that started in Northern Indiana ended in Southwest Michigan

St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says just before 8 PM Friday, a police pursuit which originated in Elkhart County entered St. Joseph County. The White Pigeon and Constantine Police picked up the pursuit in the area of Riverside Drive and Blue School Road, with the suspect vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. Constantine Police put down stop sticks but the suspect kept going.

Sheriff's Deputies joined in the pursuit on Lutz Road near Mintdale Road. It continued north on Lutz Road, then went onto Centreville-Constantine Road. Deputies also put down stop sticks near Kuhlmeyer Road.

The suspect kept doing east and drove through the Village of Centreville and onto M-86 on two rims. It then went through Nottawa and onto Bonham Road and then turned south onto Lepley Road where is struck a police vehicle head on. The suspect vehicle went off the road and into a cornfield before coming to a stop.

The driver ran away on foot but was apprehended and taken into custody. The suspect was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail on multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding along with resisting and obstructing.

The Bristol Indiana Police Department and the Three Rivers Police also assisted in the pursuit. Helping at the crash site were the Colon Township Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance.
