(SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP) – The Cass County Sheriff's Department is investigating a car versus pedestrian crash.
Sheriff Richard Behnke says the incident happened just after 8 AM Friday on Dixon Street just east of Indian Lake Road in Silver Creek Township. A vehicle driven by 67 year old Heriberto Perez of Dowagiac was going slowly passed a stopped vehicle, whose driver was talking to 68 year old Patricia Amundsen of Dowagiac.
Investigators say as Perez began to pass, he did not see Amundsen and struck her with the driver's side mirror on his vehicle. Perez remained at the scene along with a witness to the incident.
Amundsen was taken by ambulance to Bronson Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash, which remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Pokagon Tribal Police, the Sister Lakes Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance.
