Authorities Find Suspect Vehicle In Branch County Hit And Run

(UNDATED) – Michigan State Police have located the suspect vehicle from a Monday afternoon hit and run in Branch County's Sherwood Township.
Troopers say thanks to citizen's tip, the suspect vehicle, a 2005 silver, Chevy Equinox was located Tuesday at a residence on Hackman Road near M-66 in St. Joseph County's Burr Oak Township. It has been impounded for further investigation.
The driver has been identified as a 42 year old Sturgis man, and is currently cooperating with the investigation.
Troopers still have to finish going through the vehicle for any additional evidence as well as the driver's personal cell phone and a consensual sample of his blood. The phone will be examined by the Michigan State Police 5th District Computer Crimes Unit. The blood will be sent to the MSP Crime Lab in Lansing.

A 14 year old boy was flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital and is listed in critical condition. His 7 year old brother was taken by Life Care Ambulance to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital. Troopers found their 14 year old sister had been standing with them when they were struck. She was taken by her family for additional examination.
Witnesses say the vehicle never stopped and drove off west on Blossom Road.

Hit And Run Accident Involving Children Being Investigated

(SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP) – A hit and run incident in Branch County's Sherwood Township injured three children.
Michigan State Police say at 3:45 PM Monday, a silver Chevy Equinox was driving south on Ralston Road when it went off the road and struck three siblings that were riding their bikes.
A 14 year old boy was flown to a Kalamazoo Hospital. A 7 year old boy was taken by Life Care Ambulance to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital. Troopers found their 14 year old sister had been standing with them when they were struck. She was taken by her family for additional examination.
Witnesses told troopers the Equinox should have extensive damage to the right front and right side of the vehicle. That damage will include a missing passenger side headlight and mirror, and the front bumper cover was dragging on the roadway.
The vehicle was last seen leaving the area heading west on Blossom Road.
